Summary
Basic summary of gameplay or storyline.

Following in the footsteps of MRC, the Imagineer-developed game goes for all-out realism. GT 64 handles differently, however, going entirely for touring car racing without off-road elements. You (and a second player) make your choice of 14 official Grand Tour racing teams and fine-tune some of the world's fastest cars the way you like it. The game features three tracks -- Europe, Japan and the United States. Setting up your (fully licensed) car is a key factor in the player's success during the championship races. Your choice of tire will determine how well your car maneuvers on wet streets or through treacherous fog. If you happen to lose control over your vehicle and slam into an obstacle, the impact will leave a lasting dent and damage your car. But if things get too hairy, you can always catch your breath during a pit stop, refuel, and repair damages.
